Jets to Perform at Nikon Indy 300

TOP SHELF AUSSIE MUSIC FRONT AND CENTRE AT NIKON INDY 300

The band will perform a live set on the FM Stage on Saturday 25 October which will go live to air from approx 11.20am.

On Sunday 26 October the band will perform DOYA before the start of the Gold Coast Indy. The song will go live to 164 countries around the world with a potential listening Audience of 900 million people. The Jets are billed as the official pre race entertainment at the Indy 300. This will be done on the track at the podium.

Aussie bands The Screaming Jets and End of Fashion will ensure Australian music is front and centre at the country’s premier motorsport event - the Gold Coast's Nikon Indy 300 – with the two iconic bands set to feature in the entertainment program over October 23-26.

Along with Sydney up and coming artist Tegan Rogers who will perform the Australian and American anthems, these two well-known bands will perform sets as part of the pre-race entertainment across the weekend as well as on the Sea FM stage at Macintosh Island.

The appearance of Australian music industry veterans The Screaming Jets coincides with the first studio album release from the Newcastle band in eight years - ‘Do Ya’ (October 11) - and will see them perform ahead of the IndyCar Series Race on Sunday October 26.

The latest release will bring their studio album count to seven in a career which started back in 1989.

“The Screaming Jets and the Nikon Indy 300 go perfect together. Hard and fast is the way we play and our stage show could be best described as high-octane and louder than God,” enthused lead vocalist Dave Gleeson.

“Every time we play Indy, we are aware that the cars are going to be absolutely screaming around the circuit, and we believe it's our job to try and drown 'em out.

“With such a high energy motorsport going on, the Goldy gets a real super charged vibe, so we have to be on our game and rock it to make sure we keep the crowd on the high that they have from watching the cars screaming around the track.”

Whilst not enjoying the long career of The Screaming Jets as yet, Perth band End of Fashion recently released the follow-up album (Book of Lies) to their successful self-titled debut album of 2005.

The first single from that release, ‘Fussy’, is currently receiving much airplay on Australia’s radio stations nationally and is sure to be part of their Saturday V8 Supercar pre-race performance.

"We are really excited to get out there amongst it and play all our new songs to the awesome crowds at the Nikon Indy 300. I'm thinking it's going to be a big night,” said End of Fashion singer/songwriter Justin Burford.

Sharing the stage with these two groups is sure to be a highlight in the music career for aspiring artist Rogers, whose debut single, featuring ARIA award-winning producer Audius, is due out in the coming months.

“I am really excited to be performing at the Nikon Indy 300! It's an amazing opportunity to be part of such a huge international event,” said Rogers.

“I think it's awesome how locals, interstate and international guests can enjoy some of Australia's best sunshine while soaking in such an enthusiastic sporting atmosphere - the transformation of one of the country's most popular cities into a race course only happens once a year, so I’m really excited to be a part of it for 2008.”

Nikon Indy 300 Entertainment Manager Josh Martin said the signing of The Screaming Jets, End of Fashion and Tegan Rogers to the entertainment line-up further ups the ante in a program already bursting with high-octane action over the entire four days and nights of the Event.

“We are thrilled to announce such a fantastic music lineup to our already jam packed on and off-track entertainment program,” said Martin.

“The Nikon Indy 300 is renowned world wide as not just another motor race but a festival of entertainment and this year will be no exception with the calibre of acts we have announced today.”

Aside from the motor racing and the music, fans can look forward to the return of Gold Coast-based, CAPA Stunt Team riders Matt Mingay and Robbie Bolger with a new set of tricks on two wheels and synchronised burnout displays, drag racing’s legendary father and son duo Victor and Ben Bray performing ground shaking and smoke filled burnout displays as well as other extreme and exhilarating acts include the Freestyle Motocross Air Show, Classic Australian and American Convertible driver parades, Australia’s best drifters in the Drift Pro Show, and the choreographed moves of the XXXX Angels.

With 96 hours of non-stop excitement over October 23-26 as the Gold Coast comes alive to the sound of the IndyCar Series Cars burning up the track and Australia’s own V8 Supercars scorching around one of the most famous beach-side cities in the world, the event is the hottest ticket in town.
