Dave, in his first ever bash is going to do his bit to raise the charity’s profile by hosting the annual Network Seven documentary before joining up with the rest of the band in Alice Springs for the “ Legends of Australian Music” concert and National Bash celebrations.

The Screaming Jets have become a household name over last 20 years, penning hits and tirelessly touring around this great country, and the world and are currently promoting their new album Do Ya and current single Mary Jane.

These multi-platinum rockers were originally heavily influenced by ACDC and have covered many of their songs including ‘Ain’t No Fun Waiting Round To Be A Millionaire released on their EP Living In England. Whilst ACDC won’t be touring Australia until early 2010 Dave and the SONY Dark Knight of Rock N Roll team will however be blasting out tracks from their new album Black Ice as they drive across the great Aussie outback toward the Heart of Australia, Alice Springs, for the biggest Bash event to date.

Each State is taking part with all vehicles and crews arriving in Alice Springs for a couple of days celebration on the weekend of 22nd August. Variety expect between 2000-2500 crew members to be at the finish line on the Friday 21st August as well as a further 8,000 spectators who’ll also take part in two concerts to be headlined by the Screaming Jets.

The Sony “Dark Knight of Rock n Roll” Car 184 is a lovingly restored 1968 black Buick Electra with a 430 big block, equating to an intimidating 7.7 litres of V8 power. She’s gonna rock all the way from Townsville to Alice Springs.

Car owner Geoff Bird and friends uncovered this beauty at the end of their very first Bash, where they stumbled across the black beast hiding in a boat shed at Prosperine. Two years (and a lot of money!) later, the Buick is ready to Rock ‘n’ Roll!

Geoff and team are pulling out all the stops this year in a courageous bid to reach the Top Ten of the Bash fundraisers. The team have been selling off everything they can get their hands on to reach their goal and plan to raise further funds during the Bash by selling off stubby coolers, pens and highly sought-after hot showers to the highest bidder. Dave’s up for anything to raise money for the kids so watch out there’s a Rock N Roll convoy coming on through.
